A group of ten sentenced of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for perpetrating the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.

The accused individuals faced accusations of spreading fabrications regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to making malicious remarks about the pair's significant age difference.

The court delivered suspended prison sentences of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has still to be made public.

A circulating conspiracy theory claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has spread widely since her husband's initial election in 2017.

This Monday's court decision in France coincides with the Macrons initiating a libel case in the US against political commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared comparable unfounded claims about the French president's wife's identity.

Their legal filing states that Owens disregarded all credible evidence that refuted her assertions in favour of platforming known conspiracy theorists.

Owens has frequently reiterated these assertions on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her conviction that Mrs. Macron was born a man.

Brigitte Macron first met her future husband when she was a teacher at his lycée.

The couple entered into matrimony in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was 54.
