The popular resale platform has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification. Digital Channels Backlash Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted because of the remapping. The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services. They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, causing user dissatisfaction. Size Classification Modifications Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18. Shopper Accounts Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained. Necessary Adjustments Another shopper, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing". "This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she stated. Platform Context The platform boasts over 100 million users, with 18 million British users. It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options after backlash from users.
